Who We Are

Source Bakery was started by Julie White in 2019 when she began working out of a shared kitchen space and participating in farmers’ markets, pop ups & catering events. After many years of working in restaurants, bakeries & cafes, Julie felt moved to step away from the very popular, fast-casual restaurant concepts & focus on something much smaller. She knew that she wanted to open a business that’s primary focus was to support the local agriculture of New England & build relationships with the community around her.

Shortly after embarking on this adventure the stars aligned & Ashley Barnett joined the team as Head Baker. Ashley’s experience baking in restaurants in the Boston area added immensely to Source Bakery & things began to take off.

In just a few short years, Source has managed to open their first brick & mortar at 3 Duncan St. in Gloucester and expand their menu to include breakfast & lunch options, as well as coffee and espresso. We continue to use locally grown ingredients in all that we do & are thrilled to be able to continue our journey from our new home in Gloucester!
